New Hot Zones Live

Friday, February 29th, 2008

New hot zones went live yesterday so I’ve updated the list on the left side of JhetBhlak.com.  In addition to new zones going live it looks like they added a hot zone for level 70’s, the Ruins of Illsalin. This map that may be useful in locating some of the GoD zones. Here is the full list:

Level 20 North/South Ro
Level 25 Solusek’s Eye
Level 30 Blightfire Moors
Level 35 Stone Hive
Level 40 Dulak’s Harbor
Level 45 Skyshrine
Level 50 Akheva Ruins
Level 55 Crypt of Nadox
Level 60 Riwwi, Coliseum of Games
Level 65 Torden, Bastion of Thunder
Level 70 Ruins of Illsalin

Additionally a friend of mine, Clafin, sent me two new drops from Dulak’s Harbor:

Skurza Slickutt and Giggleattabus Igglebix Down

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Skurza was pretty much the same fight as Gubblegrot Smashfist and Silithis Sisnta. I’m not sure if he wanders or stays at 289 x -545. I waited at that location for less than a minute and he poped. so I took him out. Very easy 3box fight. 76 sk, 75 cle and 70 enc again.

Giggleattabus almost isn’t worth mentioning he was that easy. He does wander around so the loc in my 1.5 sk epic mob locations post is an approximate.

Now that that is done I’ve turned in the heads and received my Sheathed Innoruuk’s Voice. Next step is the Paladins in Kithcor.

1.5 Shadowknight Heads

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Last night and this morning I took out Silithis Sistna in Timorous Deep and Gubblegrot Smashfist in Ocean of Tears. Both were easily 3 boxed with a 76 sk, 75 cle and a 70 enc.

In my previous post I had Gubblegrot’s location wrong. His location is about -1880 x -1340 in OOT. He is located on top of the mountain and not on the beach. I did not see him wander anywhere so I assume he is stationary. If you are on the beach with the water behind you and facing the path going in toward the goblin camp he will be up the left side of the mountain. You will have to go up to see him. He is on a semi-plateau.

Getting to the Ocean of Tears was the hardest part. There were no gnome Translocators for OOT so I had to take the boat. Bleh!

Silithis was very easy to find. I went to the location in my epic mob location post and he walked right up to me within 5 minutes.

Neither mob was at all difficult. Most hits were in the 250 to 350 range with some spikes of 1100 to 1200. Both enraged at around 14%. Neither was more than a 5 minute fight.

Making Platinum in EQ

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

This plat earning strategy has seemed to work well for me on The Nameless server recently. If you have a character that has a high spell research skill level, making spells level 61 to 65 seems to return some decent profit. Generally I will sell spells in that level range for 3k to 5k each spell. Ironically, I have had the least success with the people that specifically ask for certain spells to be made. Often times they buy it from another spell researcher before I have it on my trader or they disapear from eq for a time.

I’ve had the most success making spells for magicians and shamans. Enchanter spells have not sold well for me despite the fact that there are few for sale in the 61 to 65 range. I have had mixed results with hybrid spells. Generally, what I like to do is make sets of spells once I have enough parchments for a complete level. Or I’ll make a specific line of spells all at once. Such as, I’ll make all of magician pet spells for 61 to 65 and put them up for sale.

To get the most return on investment don’t buy the spell parchments from traders. Use /buyer. I really can’t stress that enough. For example, I often see sooty fine runic vellum for sale by people in /trader for around 5k. Now that might sound like a decent deal if you can sell a level 70 spell for 12k but if you consider that I put up a buy line for 100p and have had people sell them to me on a consistent basis, it no longer looks as appealing. It’s really a choice of whether you want to earn about 11.5k or about 6.5k.

Another thing to keep in mind is that inks such as Ink of Pain or thickener such as Conjuring Thickener is all player made. There are no vendor sources for inks and thickeners. The good news is that you should be able to make all of the inks with components sold from the two PoK research vendors next to the small bank.

Buyer Bug High Quality Bear Skin

Friday, February 15th, 2008

I just found out this morning that my buy line for High Quality Bear Skins does not work. Players can choose the HQ Bear Skins but the ’sell’ button does not activate. I had  the money on me so that wasn’t the issue.  I also tried deleting the buy line and re-entering it and that did not work. I made sure the the HQ skin was not the lore skin in the buy line. I stopped and restarted /buyer as well with no luck. The only thing I did not try was logging off and back on again. All of my other buy lines seem to work fine.

It’s an annoying bug but pretty minor.

Type 3 Augment Search

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I thought I’d bring some attention to my LDoN Item Search since a lot of people seem to be looking for Type 3 augs to put in their new SoF gear. It’s a little buggy at times but it does a decent job of finding any equiptment from LDoN missions.

One of the bugs with this search is that if you check a specific equipment slot you will also have to uncheck the any equipment box. If you have any suggestions for improvement, leave a comment and I’ll try and get them worked in.

Gilina Yilzior Location

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

The location I have in my previous post is correct but Gilina Yilzior isn’t on the ground floor. She is on the top floor of the Northwest building on the evil side. Above the level that has the bridge going to the PoK library.
