Recently I’ve been in Fortress Mechanotus raising two factions for Type 3 SoF Augs at one time, Brownie Rebels and Ak’Anon Strike Force V.
First, get SEVEN Gearing Up quests at one time from Tabazin Gearflinger at location 93 x -1475. He is hidden behind the tent with Plink Squichbolt in it to the left after you zone in. As you complete these quests you will raise your Ak’Anon Strike Force V faction and gain experience.
Next, eliminate the steamwork mobs until your eyes bleed. Killing them will raise your Brownie Rebels faction. You should find a bunch of no drop items off the steamwork mobs. The ones you need for the Gearing Up quests that you accepted are as follows:
Sheet of Steel
Hex Bolt
Spool of Fine Wire
Steel Wire
Oil Can
Grease Tin
Small Coil Spring
Large hex Bolt
Micro-Cog
Steel Beam
Steamwork Powersouce
Finally, if an item is used in multiple quests turning in one of those items will update all of the quests that use that item. So it is most beneficial to get another quest immediately after finishing one even if you have more items to turn in.

Yeah! Tonight I finally finished my final fight and turn ins for my SK 1.5 Epic. The final battle with Sir Elmonious Falmont was…easy. We did it with 1 group of 80’s. Sk, Cle, Enc, Wiz, Dru, Rng. Actually the ranger was 75 and we had a boxed 80 Pal. I was the main tank with 17.3k hp and 2866 AC. His max hit on me was 3479 but he only did it twice. Most hits were sub 1k.
Now onto the 2.0…

I was over on the SK Forum and I seen that Xanathol recently updated his EQ Log Parser. I downloaded it but have not had a chance to use it. From what the others are saying on the forum it seems pretty good though. If you want to try it for yourself I’ve included a link below:

Here is a little trick that I have found works well when in Buyer Mode. When you dont have alot of money to spend but you need an item that has a higher buy price than you can afford, try setting up a buy line for an item that drops off the same mobs that the drop that you want drops from but no one has a buy line up for. You wont be able to buy alot of the drop that you want but you will buy some. This works especially well if you are looking for tradeskill items.
Example: Say that you want to buy Rhenium Ore but the buy prices are currently set at 500p per ore. You can’t afford it. So now you are forced with the choice of either spending countless hours farming or not getting the Rhenium you need for that new set of armor your smith is making. Well guess what. Iridium Ore drops off the same mobs that Rhenium Ore drops from. If you see that no one has a buy line up for Iridium, you just may be able to get some of that Rhenium you need. Set up a buy line for Iridium ore at lets say 1pp per ore. Now set up a buy line for Rhenium ore at a price that you can afford. Let’s say 50p per ore. Keep the Iridium buy line up for as long as you need the Rhenium Ore. To mitigate the cost of the Iridium ore, you can put whatever you buy onto a trader and sell it for what you bought it for.
Why this works: This works because people do not alway check the buying price of every item that drops after a night of xp’ing. They see that a lot of Iridium or dropped so they check who is buying it and run to them and sell the ore. They have 25 Iridium Ore and 1 Rhenium ore in their inventory so they just go ahead and sell that single ore to you instead of going through the bother of looking up buyers, finding the best price and running over to where ever that buyer is and selling that single item. It also works because people are just in a hurry sometimes. The group they are with wants the split from the night and to get to bed or whatever it is that they want to do.
Don’t expect to satisfy a tradeskill junkie level of demand for drops through this method of buying. You will be extremely frustrated if you do. But, you can expect to pick up a few items here and there that you need to make that final armor piece or pottery charm.

The owner of EQ Traders Corner made a post on her personal blog around the middle of August that was kind of scary for me. She was considering getting rid of the site because of the cost and time involved in running it. Why is it scary? Well because I don’t know of any other site that details tradeskills so completely and efficiently as EQ Traders. Not to mention they do this all for free. Whenever I have any questions about tradeskills that is the frist place I head. I can’t imagine the site not being there. Whenever I get a drop that I don’t recognize and it has the tradeskill tag on it, I know I can find out if it is going to be usefull to me just by visiting EQTC.
I really hope that they keep that site going but I know how time consuming it can be to run even a small website. Let alone a site with the amount of information compiled at EQTC.

Over on JhetBhlak.com I’ve added a Type 3 augment chart for the augments released during the Secrets of Faydwer expansion. The chart is broken down by class and includes the augment name, vendor purchased from, zone purchased in and the faction the vendor is on.
When you select an augment there is also information on how to increase the faction so you can purchase that particular aug. You will need to be Ally to purchase the augments from the vendors.
If you find any errors on the chart, feel free to leave comments here so I can update it.

I have not confirmed this yet but it looks like the Hotzone Aug Drop for Riftseeker’s Sanctum is called a Frozen Pyrilen Eye with stats of 65 to hp/mana and 1 heroic charisma. As soon as I can get to RSS and take a picture I’ll put it up.

Now this augment is worthwhile for tanks. The Sunderrock Springs Hotzone Drop is called a Petrified Bladefin Eye. It has a required level of 65, AC 18, hp 50 and 1 heroic stat to both intelligence and wisdom. And this aug fits in both 7 and 8 slots.

It looks like there may be two Hotzone Drops (as reported by Clafin) for Blackfeather Roost. The first one is called a Fossilized Griffon Eye, 35 hp/mana, 5 to all saves and a required level of 55. The second drop is a Crystallized Griffon Eye. I’m not sure if this is really a Hot Zone Drop because it has a required level of 48 and recommended level of 55 (30 mana/end).
