The Way Of Kings

Brandon Sanderson. I probably would not have heard of this author if he had not taken over The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. When I first heard that Sanderson was taking over the writing of the last of The Wheel of Time series, I decided to go ahead and buy some of his work to see if I liked it. The books I bought were the Mistborn Trilogy. And I really liked them. Well now Brandon has a new book out called: The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive).

Let me start off by telling you how I decide if I am going to buy and read any book. I start by reading a couple of pages. If by reading those couple of pages I can actually envision the characters, what they look like and really see in my mind what’s going on in those couple of pages, I know I have found a book that will keep my attention and entrance me. The Way of Kings did this for me in the first page and a half.

I’m currently about 200 pages into the book and it has still kept my attention like the first page and a half did. The characters are well developed and unique and bring life to the story that is being told.

The story itself is well thought out and will hold your attention. If you’re anything like me you won’t want to put the book down and you’ll stay up way too late reading when you have work the next day!

My only regret so far is that I didn’t wait to check prices online before I bought the book. It was an impulse buy. I paid around $29 at the book store and Amazon has the book for $16.97 today (Oct 6, 2010). Ah well, live and learn.
