I’m playing catchup here since I have not posted in a bit. First up is the new hotzones. I’ve updated JhetBhlak.com to reflect the new hotzones added on 12/9/08. I’ll update the blog with the new augment drops as I get them. Also, I’ve kept the old hotzones listed below the new ones in case anyone needs to see what the drops were for those.

Drakah has once again become my hero and updated the default_old user interface. I know I have a link to his UI update and a link to his forums on the left but this is just another chance to say thank you to him and let everyone know what a fabulous job he does for us

I missed it on May 30, 2008. Apparently Drakah released a new Default_Old UI for the SoF expansion at the end of May.

The latest game update seems to have caused some EQ players some update issues. For me the problem came in when the patcher was downloading the Legends of Norrath file RuleIndex.dat. For some reason the patcher would hang and error out and I would never get the play button to show up. It was stuck on updating.

What solved my issue was to download the separate LoN patcher and update the Legends files. Then I had to copy the newly downloaded RuleIndex.dat file from my Program Files\Sony\Legends of Norrath\data\archetypes folder and past it into my Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\LegendsOfNorrath\data\archetypes folder.

I have had word that the AA experience update has gone into effect and players with lower AA totals seem to be earning AA xp much faster. I have not verified this as of yet but it looks as though the cut off for earning speedier AA’s is at around the 400 orlower mark.

This is a little bit of old news but the way characters earn AA experience is going to change.  Nodyin on the sony forums announced the changes back on February 12th 2008.

How it will work is like this. The fewer AA’s you have the faster you will gain AA experience. Once you reach an unknown core amount you will start to gain AA xp at the same rate that we are now.  This is level independant so it won’t matter if you are 51 or 80. The rate is entirely dependant on the number of AA’s you have. So for example if you have acquired 0 to 50 AA’s you could get three times the xp that you would normally get. Then from 51 to 250 you could get two times the AA xp. The xp modifier (3x, 2x, etc) will keep going down as you gain AA’s until it reaches 1 times the xp. The shadowknight forums have a post that may detail the changes better than I have explained.

New hot zones went live yesterday so I’ve updated the list on the left side of JhetBhlak.com.  In addition to new zones going live it looks like they added a hot zone for level 70’s, the Ruins of Illsalin. This map that may be useful in locating some of the GoD zones. Here is the full list:
