New computer
Saturday, November 3rd, 2007So I bought a new computer and built it from the ground up this weekend. Overall it did not go too badly. As a matter of fact I’m posting from it now. It is a quad core processor and I had planned to run each instance of EQ (I 3 box) on a processor But I ran into a problem. You can’t set affinity on eqgame.exe. Every time I try it gives me the error, “The operation could not be completed. Access is denied.“ After digging around a bit on the net it looks like you cannot set affinity on the eqgame.exe process. You have to do it before the game launches so it may work on the launchpad process. I will have to try it out later.
One other thing I learned when building this computer is that I am going to need another UPS. My old Back-UPS XS 1000 APC unit actually gave me the finger when I tried to hook up all the new gear to it. I’m not even sure what I need for backup power with this computer.
